The Wale family dominated the history of Little Shelford for centuries. Between 1908 and 1919 Fanny Wale created an exquisite record of village life. Falling somewhere between a history, a journal and a sketchbook, the 81-page volume "A Record of Shelford Parva" has been republished in a facsimile reproduction of Fanny Wale's work.
The book contains Fanny Wale's charming and skilful drawings and paintings, alongside historic photographs of Little Shelford and a detailed text by local historian, David Martin.
Prints from the book will be exhibited over the summer on the cafe gallery wall during cafe opening hours. Copies of the prints (framed and unframed) and copies of the book will be available for purchase. All visitors are welcome to take a free exhibition booklet: Fanny Wale - A Companion Guide.
